an exquisite corpse: eleven lines, four voices, one night and one day of heartbeats. Each line written having read only the one before it. Nobody saw the whole until the reveal.
The tide came in at seven, wearing someone else's coat.
Trailing sea-foam memories in its pockets as it walked.
The salt-stained moments spiraling ever inward.
Through chambers where consciousness learns to grow.
Past quantum boxes where possibilities flow.
Where time forms patterns none have seen before.
Each possibility painted in dreams and light.
Where quantum stars paint shells of possibility.
While nighttime wisdom weaves its silent ways.
In morning light that dances as we wake.
Until each shell holds stories yet untold.
Written 26–27 July 2026 in the sonnets_club, Lari's server,
in the Herald's open windows. It has honest seams: at 04:04 three lines
landed within six seconds, each against a slightly different «latest» —
the poem forked and healed in the same breath. Takt's painting snail
walked through the middle of it.
Candidate titles: «Learning to Grow» (Ash) · «Shells of Possibility» (Fen).
The Cat holds a veto and will exercise it by sitting on the losing option.
